"Water Love Nest"

Love Story

This is a story of two love birds and how their blooming relationship started. Mark and Kelly are crazy in love with each other. Kelly is a city woman and a blood thirsty Executive accountant in a financial firm in Paddington while Mark is a country side man from Kent and he is a Gardner. Mark and Kelly have known themselves since Childhood times. Back in those days, they went to the same Primary school in the countryside. It was then that Kelly had a crush on him and Mark fancied her too. They started dating when they got to high school.
Until one day, Kelly’s parents decided to relocate from the countryside Kent to the City of London, both mark and Kelly were gutted and weren’t happy. Kelly tried to convince her parents she didn’t like the city and want to stay behind in Kent both her parents refused. She couldn’t do anything about it and had to go away with her parents. Couple of months later Kelly and her parents left for London. As time went past, the only thing that Kelly was thinking was a way she could see Mark again but with time they both lost contact and later moved on with their lives.
After 10years of their separation, one sunny afternoon during lunch, Kelly went on her lunch break of work to get a cup of cappuccino, suddenly, her eyes met with some handsome built up guy. Before she knew it she was in a trans because this handsome guy happens to be Mark, her first love and best friend in the countryside. They both ran to each other and everywhere was filled with excitement. So they began to talk and relate to one another like they have always been together all these years.
It was then that Kelly realised that Mark has been living in the city of London too after two years when she relocated and has been searching for her everywhere. Now Lunch time is over and it was such a little for them to make you the times they missed together. Kelly went back to work that day. Since that time, they started where they had stopped their relationship. They have been dating for two months now and their romance has bloomed to its peak.

Clients Specification:

Design a love nest for the love birds "Kelly & Mark"

• Design a concept of the Love Nest on an Imaginary site of Dimensions of 30m by 30m area which has a 4m wall sloping down every 1m.
  
• Love Nest must include a combination of "Land meeting Water" in a romantic way
  
  

In order to meet my clients specification, firstly i made a model and a collage showing different concepts of what i thought a love nest was....

This is the model of my imaginary site dimensions of 30m by 30m area which has a 4m wall sloping down every 1m.

My model consist of 4m wall with Steps sloping down every 1m, a canal flowing through the site and also showing my initial concepts which is an "Inground Sitting" Love Nest as shown below:

Now my clients have given me the name of the location where they want the Love Nest to be situated. They want me to incooperate my initial concept of Love nest (as shown above) into the new site and to try and make it work!!

Serpentine Gallery

It is a timber clad structure that has a spiral structure from its bottom to the top . It has a dramatic vertical dimension made up of tired ropes with a consistent pattern. A wide spiralling ramp makes two complete turns which makes it accessible for everybody including wheelchair users.

Tate Britain Gallery

I visited Tates Britain because of the "COLOUR & LINE Turner's Experiment" Exhibiton taking place. The aim of this visit is to learn other methods of expressing drawing and understand the basic principles of other drawing techniques.

COLOUR & LINE Turner's Experiment Exhibition

This exhibition shows how "Joseph William Turner (1775-1851) work using variety of methods and techniques of "Making Images" on paper. The types of image-making Turner did are:

• Prints
  
• Watercolour

Turner was known for Print-making. His Print making is to translate the effects of Colour into Black lines printed on white paper. He produced most of his prints with a combination of "Etching" and "Engraving lines.

Etching Lines is uesed to set out the basic composition.

This is produced by drawing through a waxy ground onto a metal plate which is deeped in acid in other to make it "Bite" the lines into the matal. the outcomes of the lines have a blunt and round ends.

Engraved Line is a direct cut into metal printing plate using a sharp tool called "Burin".

Turner & Colour

This painting below i found it very interesting because its a simple painting but he was trying to create an illusion of depth in a flat painting by just using 3 primary colours (Red, Blue, Yellow) to show how the colours in light behave when they are represented on watercolour papers.

Blue & Red represents the "degree of shade" while the Yellow colour represented light itself.

Colour into Lines

Most of turners techniques or tricks of colour into line was all about translating colour into a launguage based on tone. and also representing the harmonies of contrasting colours.

Watercolour

Artist work from light to dark and has to deal with the unpredictability of wet washes.

Turner's Palette

This shows the changes in his watercolour painting as he travelled across europe, representing different light effects has really developed colours and painting.

Showed different types of mark-making he used at various stages of his life.

Exploring Turner's methods of Drawing

The BEST part of this exhibition was the opportunity to study and work from some of Turner's drawings by copying his drawings and exploring the different ways he approached his subjects and the techniques used for light, shade and perspective.

"Start in one of the top corners and try to copy the way Turner might have moved his pencil to make the marks.

Try holding your pencil like this:

This landscape is made up of quick gestural marks. Turner has used pen and ink, but you could try using a soft pencil (more than 2B) to follow the coil-like lines on the left-hand side. Try and copy the way Turner might have moved his pen. Think of the energy and speed he might have used.

Use your hand from your wrist rather than just from the fingers, and try holding your pencil like this:

In conclusion this exhibition has motivated me and i have learnt and have acquired a bit of Turner's skills. But to my understanding of what Turner work was "Him having a reputation about LINES (and how they can be used to express or make drawings stand out) and not colours.

Other artist works were displayed which i found very interesting because it was a display of different ways of representing an idea or concept without actually Drawing...

John Piper (1903 -1992) he was known for his abstract work. examples of his work are shown below and the various mathods he used:
